The St. Matthews Fire Protection District is committed to providing the highest level of dedication and resources to both education and prevention for our citizens. The Fire District offers many programs and activities to meet almost anyone’s needs. We believe that education is key to prevention and work hard at spreading the Fire Safe message. Along with the programs we offer the St. Matthews Fire Protection District has a team of seven dedicated Kentucky Certified State Fire Inspectors who conduct well over 1,000 fire inspections each year to our surrounding business’s ensuring the safety and well being of our citizens.
Programs available:

Smoke Alarm Installation Program - Every Sunday (weather permitting) St Matthews Firefighters go out in the district and go Door to Door reminding residents to check the batteries in there smoke detectors.

The firefighters also will offer to check the detector for you or install a new 10 year Lithium Detector if the occupant does not have a working smoke detector

If no one is home at the time we canvass your neighborhood a flyer will placed on your door so that you may call us to come out at a later date.

Fire Safety House Program (Safe House) - The Safe House is a mobile fire safety house that is set up at different events throughout the city. The purpose of the program is to instruct the general population on fire safety topics, such as: smoke alarms, home escape plans, using 911, and a host of other fire safety topics. This program must be scheduled well in advance and requires some planning to achieve. Please contact Major Dave Dugan to help schedule your event.

Fire Safety Brochures – are available at our Headquarters however, if you need a large number of them please call ahead in advance so that we can make sure we get you enough for your group.

Fire Safety Presentations - This program is where we will send your neighborhood fire company out to talk with your group about just about any fire safety topic. Pamphlets are usually available for groups of less than 100.
